FIELD TRIPS & GROUP RATES

Our educational programs are designed for children PreK-5th grade. The programs are themed based and fully aligned with Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills objectives.  Each program includes hands-on activities with investigations and open museum time where students explore our exciting exhibits. ​​ADMISSION

  • $6 per child for entry including BCM Staff led activities and experiment

  • $4 per child for museum entry only

  • Our group rates are for a minimum of 10 and a maximum of 60 children. We will not schedule more than 60 children in the museum at one time.

  • Education group trips can be scheduled year round and are 2 hours in length Monday-Friday from 9am – 3pm. Not on Wednesday mornings. Reservations must be made at least two weeks in advance.

​​» PreK 

  • Bubbling Bubbles: Let your students work on their fine motor skills, hand/eye coordination, sensory processing skills, visual tracking skills, and more while having fun with bubbles!!

  • Mix it Up - discovering colors: Kids love mixing paint and discovering new colors. After reading Mix it Up by Herve Tullet, students will do just that! 

​​» Kindergarten 

  • Magnificent Magnets: Students will explore the interaction between various magnets, learn how magnets are used to push and pull objects and make observations and predictions!

  • Chalk - nurturing creativity: Students will use their imagination and creativity while creating artwork based on the book Chalk by Bill Thomson. 

​​» 1st Grade 

  • Water Water Everywhere!: Students investigate water through hands on activities that will allow the students to learn the different properties of H2O!!!

  • Ish-it's okay not to be perfect: In the book Ish by Peter Reynolds, students will learn that it's okay not to be perfect and that everyone can be an artist! 

» 2nd Grade

  • Building Engineers-straw boat challenge: Using different materials, students will design and construct a boat to accomplish certain challenges. 

  • The Dot-it all starts with a dot: Many kids stress about starting a piece of artwork, but in The Dot by Peter Reynolds, kids learn that it all starts with a dot and it can go anywhere! 

» 3rd Grade

  • Solids, Liquids, and Gases oh my! Students will classify different samples of matter and observe changes as different substances go from a solid, liquid and gas. 

  • Journey-exploring watercolors and feelings through artwork: Kids have so many feelings, and it is sometimes difficult to express them through words, but in Journey by Aaron Becker, students will learn how to express their feelings through artwork. 

» 4th Grade

  • Exploring the Solar System: Using our Emerald Planetarium, students will learn about our solar system and constellations. 

  • Once a Mouse-introduction to print making: Students will learn many life lessons and be introduced to printing making through the book Once a Mouse... by Marcia Brown. 

» 5th Grade

  • Exploring Energy: Students will explore different forms of energy and do hands on experiments to understand how the energy flows in the various forms!

  • Iggy Peck Architect-sculpture creations: After reading Iggy Peck Architect by Andrea Beaty, students will engage in their own sculpture creations using a variety of different materials. 

***Special Needs: 

  • Sensory Science: Students will use their sensory processing skills to explore multiple objects while also working on their fine and gross motor skills!
